I first started training with Annette at Hoveringham Lake, she runs Squad Training Sessions for open water Swimming, as well one to one, beginners, front crawl…. Absolutely loved the sessions, as a Triathlete, I wanted to build my confidence, endurance and speed. Annette’s sessions certainly did that.
I also had a one to one coached swim session in the pool, where Annette analysed my technique. She gave me drills to work on, which helped so much. In fact, I swam a personal best time over 3.9KM (2.4 miles) in my triathlon in September.
For the last 8 weeks, Annette has been providing me with training plans using the Trainingpeaks App.
I am running a marathon in April 2024, so currently working on some Base Training.
The sessions are mostly runs, but also there are Strength and conditioning, swims and cycling programmed in as well. We discussed my requirements beforehand, Annette was very keen on me continuing with what I enjoy, as well as working towards my marathon training, which starts in January 2024.
The run sessions are a variety of easy pace, tempo and long runs. Using Heart rate zones and pace.
Two strength and conditioning sessions per work, plus a swim and ride.
The sessions are challenging at times, but the results are already showing, which I love.
I have completed 2 fitness tests so far, in relation to running. One when I first started training with Annette, so she could tailor my sessions to me, the second was to see how I have progressed. I had improved my pace on a 30 minute run, running as hard as I could for the duration, by over 30 seconds, in just 4 weeks!
Annette does not just do generic workouts, they are individually tailored to suit my goals, my fitness levels, my experience and to fit around my work/life. The support she offers is outstanding. Always giving feedback and encouragement, after each session.
If you are looking for a coach who is experienced, committed, who listens to what you want to achieve and offers the tools, support and encouragement to achieve them, then I can’t recommend Annette highly enough. Not only that, she is a genuinely lovely person who cares about her clients.

Last year I was feeling fed up with peri-menopause weight gain but had lost my motivation for exercise. I had tried a fitness centre but struggled with the noise levels and being around lots of people. I also didn’t think what I was doing was actually helping me. A colleague suggested Annette as she had done some training with her and thought her home gym set up would be better for me.
I was very nervous at first but Annette put me at ease, discussing my fitness goals so she could make a training plan.
She has been wonderful in building my confidence in my abilities. Over the weeks with her gentle encouragement, we have been increasing the weights and doing exercises to target different muscle areas.
It is great to see the progress I’ve made. I know I am making progress with my fitness goals and the work I’m doing is definitely helping me. We recently had a weight and measurement review and I was delighted to see the changes after just a few months.
I definitely recommend Annette as a personal trainer. She has lots of fitness experience in her own life from doing triathlons and is currently training to do the London Marathon, again!

From the beginning, Annette stood out to us with her unique offering of Parent and Child sessions. This was particularly appealing to us as finding a fitness program that catered to both adults and children, especially those under 16, was a challenge. The fact that traditional gyms were off-limits for Hugo due to his age made us appreciate the opportunity Annette provided.
Our specific goals were distinct – Hugo, being an 11-year-old goalkeeper, needed to enhance his core and upper body strength to prevent potential football-related injuries. Additionally, his goalkeeping coach had emphasised the importance of developing ‘explosive’ strength for increased agility and springiness. On the other hand, I, having a background in distance running, was grappling with frequent injuries due to a lack of cross-training.

Annette provides an inclusive environment for all abilities from beginner, right up to advanced / triathlon level. The sessions are well structured and focused as well as being fun.
I am what could be called a ‘self-taught’ front crawl swimmer, so have picked up various bad habits over the years. After joining one of Annette’s multi-week ‘squad’ sessions, we focussed on stroke, breathing and stamina with the main aim of slowing down to ensure that the stroke elements were executed correctly. To say I improved was an understatement. I went from thrashing the water into a foam, swimming far too fast and getting tired quickly to a more controlled stroke that helped with retaining energy and enabling me to swim for longer without stopping.
Following the series of sessions, I was able to swim a full circuit of 500 metres open-water without stopping. This is something I had always struggled with and thanks to Annette, I was able to achieve it.
Annette has a wealth of experience not only in the technical aspects of swimming and stroke techniques but also in general fitness, running and associated diets.
All sessions are run with positive encouragement and Annette is such a lovely person to have as your coach. I cannot recommend her enough.
